Mariah Carey delivered a deliberately theatrical fashion moment at the opening ceremony of the 2026 Olympic Winter Games, stepping onstage in an ornate Roberto Cavalli by Fausto Puglisi design.

The gown was built around an Art Deco–inspired surface treatment, with shimmering beads and crystal embellishments running across the bodice, waist, and skirt. A long, dramatic train followed behind her as she performed “Nothing Is Impossible” and “Volare (Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu)”, and she added a feathery wrap that played into the winter setting.

Her jewelry read as the second focal point. Carey wore Levuma pieces including a bracelet and statement earrings, alongside a $15 million diamond necklace. The look also featured the “Rosée Éternelle” diamond necklace and earrings from Levuma, valued at $10 million, paired with a shimmering jumpsuit and coordinated knee boots.

For glam, Carey wore her blonde hair in voluminous waves past her shoulders, with a calmer makeup direction anchored by lined, smoky eyes. The styling aligns with the kind of maximal, highly polished wardrobe she is known for, and she is frequently styled by Wilfredo Rosado, who has curated many of her recent public looks.

The ceremony’s performance lineup also included Laura Pausini and Andrea Bocelli, positioning the night as a global showcase tied closely to Italy as host nation. The Milano Cortina 2026 Olympics begin on Friday and run through February 22, with events including ice hockey, figure skating, and alpine skiing. Coverage will air on NBC, with daily and primetime programming, and will stream on Peacock.
